Adelaide South Australia

The world is beautiful! I love traveling in the world. Now I’m in Adelaide - the capital city of South Australia, set on a coastal plain between the Gulf St Vincent and the Adelaide Hills. It was founded in 1836 and named after the British Queen Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen.

There are a lot of ART galleries, parks, museums and wineries. I visited with loving members of my family.

The Playford Hotel is in City West Street. After check in, we left our luggage in the rooms.

We were so hungry and found a very nice restaurant near the hotel. After lunch we went to the Art Gallery of South Australia. What impressed me? – there was something very original: a chair mounted on the wall, with small figures suspended from it on strings. Their shadows were cast against the wall, moving in various directions and depicting different scenes, creating the illusion of watching a theatrical performance. Amazing!

Another one was a handcrafted cloth from Indonesia, and the large pouring vessel – Kendi that features a spout shaped like the head of a crowned Naga serpent. Nagas frequently adorn fountains and springs in Bali, alluding to the giant serpent Basuki, who assisted the gods and demons in creating the elixir of life.

Our dinner was at a Japanese restaurant and we enjoyed their sake and fish served in a boat-shaped dish!

The next day was 36°C, we had a boat trip it’s the best option when it is hot. The captain entertained us with jokes and stories, making the half hour fly by in what felt like a minute. We were smiling and ready for more excitement.

After our boat trip we went to the South Australian Museum. We appreciated several floors of Australian Aboriginal artefacts, weapons and others. Next, we went to see the library.

Last for the grand finale, we visited the Botanical Garden.

Adelaide is a truly beautiful city, and it left me with wonderful feeling and memories shared with my lovely family. Thank you!
